BMA Connections Brings Together Lawyers from Around the World
Creating connections, sharing experiences, and inspiring new conversations among rising partners from law firms across the globe — that was the goal of the first edition of BMA Connections, a three-day program hosted by BMA Advogados. From October 8 to 10, we welcomed 24 lawyers to our Rio de Janeiro offices for a program that combined speaker sessions with group discussions, all designed to strengthen ties among all participants, both hosts and guests.
The opening session featured guest speaker Pedro Malan, former Brazilian Minister of Finance, who offered a broad overview of global economic developments from the post-war period to the present. His remarks touched on contemporary issues that contribute to uncertainty and unpredictability for investors, including U.S. tariffs on Brazilian goods and the challenges faced by BRIC countries.
Later that day, BMA partners Felipe Palhares and Luiz Flaks led a panel on some of Brazil's most notable ransomware cases. The session explored the key concerns companies face when responding to cyberattacks and the priorities that emerge when sensitive data is compromised.
On the second day of the program, participants toured BMA's offices to learn more about the space where many of Brazil's major transactions take shape. The day included a group discussion led by Camila Goldberg, partner in BMA's Finance and Capital Markets practice.
The final day of the program featured Olympic gold medalist Nalbert Bitencourt, who spoke about the challenges of high-level performance and the importance of leadership, both on and off the court. BMA partners Amir Bocayuva and Felipe Galea, the firm's Managing Partner and Head of People, led a session on career development and the role of a collaborative environment in supporting the next generation of lawyers and ensuring the firm's long-term sustainability. To close the program, founding partner Chico Müssnich hosted a discussion on building and maintaining an international professional network.
