His practice focuses on high complexity arbitrations and court cases, along with pro bono work, involving contractual, corporate and real estate disputes. He is also active at the pre litigation stage, participating in negotiations and discussions aimed at preventing or preparing for litigation.
João Rafael has experience as an arbitrator's assistant under the rules of various Brazilian arbitration institutions and is a member of the roster of arbitrators of a leading arbitral institution. Clients represented by João Rafael in arbitral and court proceedings include some of the largest companies operating in the real estate, civil construction, financial and capital markets, cargo transportation, and cultural sectors.
João Rafael also has significant teaching experience, having taught Contract Law to undergraduate students at PUC-Rio and lectures on directors' and officers' civil liability in the extension course on Corporate and Capital Markets Dispute Resolution at Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ).
