"BMA: Compliance, Investigations and Regulatory Enforcement - 2022"; check out our new e-book
In a world where ESG practices are increasingly relevant, both for companies and to ensure a more sustainable future for the planet, it is imperative to reinforce, update and ensure the implementation of truly effective Corporate Ethics Programs.
In addition, thinking about compliance beyond the anti-corruption theme is a major challenge in a country such as Brazil, which has been at the center of several discussions on this topic in recent years. However, after a start focused on anti-corruption, discussions on compliance and ethics in companies were expanded and became a daily agenda for companies. Thus, dealing with crisis management and companies’ reputation, prevention and investigation of virtual crimes, discussions on money laundering in various branches of business, disclosure on Compliance issues by publicly-held companies, investigations of harassment issues and training of companies, as well as legal advice and analysis on risks of various kinds in different types of business are demands that have become increasingly common in the thematic umbrella of our area.
The purpose of this material is to provide reflections on some of these topics, from the perspective of our Compliance, Investigations and Sanctioning Law team. Our multidisciplinary and integrated look, due to our performance in a full service office, allows us to follow the most different themes within the corporate ethics area, always in constant and close contact with the other areas of the office. From structuring a Compliance program (now not only focused on anti-corruption, but also on the ESG theme) to prevention and investigation, through training, monitoring, defenses or asset recovery, our team is qualified to act in partnership with our customers.
We hope that this material will provide interesting reflections on the current issues of compliance within the companies operating in our country.
