Brazil's new Basic Sanitation Framework Law is aimed at providing water, sewage, waste management and rainwater drainage services to the population of the entire country.
Approved on July 15th as Law 14.026, the legislation seeks to make water and sewage services universal through private investment, and provides greater legal certainty in the sector by broadening the regulatory jurisdiction of the National Waters Agency – ANA, among other changes.
