Barbara Rosenberg
Barbara Rosenberg is one of BMA's Competition and Antitrust partners. She acts for companies involved in mergers and acquisitions in notifications and other proceedings before Brazil's competition authority, CADE, and represents clients in investigations of anticompetitive conduct. She also advises on competition compliance matters and in reviewing commercial practices. Barbara has been involved in the main M&A transactions in Brazil over the last decade.

Professional experience
Barbara has exceptional experience acting for companies in approval of mergers and acquisitions by CADE, Brazil's competition authority, and in representing clients in investigations into anticompetitive conduct, including cartels. She also advises on competition compliance matters, and assists business in reviewing their commercial practices to ensure conformity with competition laws.
Barbara has been involved in the main M&A transactions in Brazil over the last decade, in both value and complexity. Her clients include a wide range of national and international companies doing business in various markets, such as retail, pharmaceuticals, technology, chemicals, electronics, food and beverages, and in the education, aviation, logistics and infrastructure sectors.
She was part of the Brazilian federal competition authority for three years, from 2003 to 2005, as Director of the Economic Protection and Defense Department of the Economic Law Secretariat (SDE - Secretaria de Direito Econômico), attached to the Ministry of Justice. She was an associate with Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP in the United States. Barbara lectured in Competition Law, International Trade, and Intellectual Property in continuing education courses at the Getúlio Vargas Foundation Law School from 2004 to 2012.
She is a frequent speaker at events related to her area of practice, and contributes to publications on competition and antitrust law.
Barbara is a member of the BMA Women and BMA Diversity Committees.

Barbara is a council member of the Brazilian Institute of Competition, Consumer Law and International Trade – IBRAC, and a member of the International Cartel Task Force (2021-2022). She was a Non-Governmental Advisor to the International Competition Network, and Council Member of the ABA (2018-2020).
