We represent our clients before regulatory authorities in connection with bids, concessions, environmental licensing, renegotiation of regulated contracts, arbitrations, and disputes at the administrative level and before the courts.

Regulatory. We assist clients in all regulatory matters before ANEEL, Brazil’s Electrical Energy Agency, the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), and the CCEE, Brazil’s Electrical Power Trading Chamber. We also advise on concession contracts, giving special attention to the financial and economic balance of the project, and provide support in discussions with the regulator.

Court-Supervised Reorganizations. Businesses in financial diculties can count on our expertise in applications for court-supervised reorganizations, negotiations with creditors, and discussions with regulators for approval of reorganization plans.

Litigation. In addition to acting for clients in both arbitration and legal proceedings, we provide support at the pre-litigation stage in corporate crises and disputes with suppliers and business partners, and in enforcement of performance contracts and collection of compensation owed by government authorities.

Project Consultancy. We assist large consumers in acquiring power in the unregulated market and in their dealings with the CCEE, and provide legal support in the development of distributed generation projects.

Environmental. We act for generation, transmission and distribution companies in evaluating environmental impacts and in licensing processes before Brazilian environmental agencies like Ibama, ICMBio and the Instituto Chico Mendes.

Corporate. We help companies of different sizes in structuring greenfield projects and in M&A transactions, leasings, and designing joint ventures and corporate structures for large-scale generation projects.

Tax. We act for sector businesses in tax proceedings before the courts and at the administrative level, and advise on tax planning for energy projects.
