Our knowledge of the inner workings of Brazil’s highest courts means that we can take a handcrafted approach to each case, ensuring that it stands out from the high volume of proceedings that flow into the courts. We give clients precise and informed support, from drafting appeals to the Superior Court of Justice (STJ – Superior Tribunal de Justiça), the Supreme Federal Court (STF – Supremo Tribunal Federal) and the Superior Labor Appeals Court (TST – Tribunal Superior do Trabalho) to preparing briefs, attending in chambers, and making oral arguments. We also act for amici curiae in cases that will result in binding precedents and restatements of the law, taking part in public hearings and judgment sessions.

Our work in Brazil’s constitutional court, the STF, also involves cases in which the court has original jurisdiction, such as constitutional challenges; stays of writs, preliminary orders and judgments; and complaints and judicial review of decisions by the TCU (Tribunal de Contas da União, the federal budget oversight board), the National Justice Council (CNJ, responsible for administration of the judiciary), and the Public Prosecution Service’s National Council (CNMP – Conselho Nacional do Ministério Público). 

In the STJ, which is the highest court for nonconstitutional matters, we act for clients in appeals involving both private and public law, proceedings for judicial review of executive acts, letters rogatory, certification of foreign judgments and awards, and stays of writs, preliminar orders, and judgments.
